Cyber-Defence Campus: Strengthening Switzerland’s Cyber Defence

The Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) was founded in 2019 in order to strengthen Switzerland’s cyber defence and to anticipate cyber developments more quickly. It forms the link between the Swiss government, industry and academia in research, development, and training for cyber defence.

Annual reporting of the research programmes Cyberspace and Cyber & Intelligence Analytics

On Monday, 23 March 2026, the annual reporting on the research programmes “Cyberspace” and “Cyber & Intelligence Analytics” from armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T) offered an overview of the latest advances in research in these areas. Dr Roland Meier and Dr Gérôme Bovet from the specialist area Cyber Defence explain here how new results from research can contribute to increasing Switzerland’s cyber security.

Can Tire Pressure Sensors Enable Vehicle Tracking?

Researchers from the Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) of armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T), together with international partners, have investigated the privacy risks posed by tire pressure sensors in modern vehicles. Their study shows that unencrypted wireless signals from Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) can be captured with inexpensive hardware, making it possible to infer vehicle movement patterns.

Increased research work on the electronic identity of the Swiss Confederation

The Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse and the Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) are combining their expertise to systematically advance key issues of security and data protection regarding the new electronic identity of the Swiss Confederation (e-ID). In this context, the Cyber-Defence Campus (CYD Campus) of armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T) is supporting increased research cooperation. The focus is on examining innovative technologies for a particularly privacy-friendly digital identity between 2026 and 2029.

Real or fake? What research teaches us.

The Cyber-Defence Campus of armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T) is publishing new studies about the increasing difficulty in identifying images generated by artificial intelligence (AI) as such. This joint research project of the Cyber-Defence Campus and the University of Applied Sciences of Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) deals with the increasing use of AI-generated images and with the subtle artefacts that distinguish them from real images.

Dr Roland Meier is the new head of the Cyber Security team

From 1 January 2026, Dr Roland Meier will assume leadership of the Cyber Security team in the division Cyberdefence at armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T). He succeeds Dr Bernhard Tellenbach in this position. The division Cyberdefence warmly congratulates him on his new role.
